Dear Kate Harwood,
I don’t agree that the group of young adult aged 16-25 don’t watch TV Drama I disagree I think they do but their isn’t a broad range of Dramas available to this target audience. Programs such as Hollyoaks which run daily are great for the age range but it is the only main program running for our age range unlike the elders, if there were more it would bring in a younger audience.
I think the real life stories which are sometimes dramatised are appealing; sometimes something which wouldn’t occur is interesting to see like in programs such as skins where every character has some sort of problem although this doesn’t appeal to everyone as it isn’t that realistic. I think younger audiences also like comedy which are often seen in sitcoms I agree that a mixture would be prefect for this target audience.
I think that Programs such as Skins and Misfits understand the audience they are relevant yet dramatised Hollyoaks is also good and very relevant in a ‘problem’ manner touching subjects such as Drugs and Anorexia but its very repetitive so the audience get tired of the storylines being recycled over a couple of years.
Programs such as Dubplate Drama even though it is interactive with the audience is brilliant for the age range but the stories aren’t that great they show a dark London which only appeals to people with the London slang but the way the program is made isn’t as great as programs such as Skins and Misfits.
Thanks,
Brittany
